An exhibit in a Denver, CO design gallery presented the perfect opportunity for Denyse to explore her conceptions–and misconceptions–of the American West. At the time Denyse was working on the quilts, Denver was blanketed with (and paralyzed by) several feet of snow, which determined that each quilt in the series would feature white grounds. This quilt started as a sketch, then the concept was worked out full scale on the wall before being pieced together like a puzzle.
This quilt is a queen, measuring 86" by 94". Cotton and wool, machine-quilted.Sale $1,500.
