Open Studios 2022
I'm excited to be part of the American Fabric Building Open Studios event this year after a two-year hiatus. Our event is part of Bridgeport CT's city-wide Bridgeport Art Trail. Come and experience the wealth of creativity in our building and our city, and enjoy dozens of talented artists from every medium, with music, food, and special events to make it a special event.
November 12-13, from 10am to 5pm. In-person studio visitors will get first dibs on all available quilt samples – some are larger bed sizes (queen and full), and of course I have smaller sizes available too. Any quilts still on hand after Open Studios will be available via the website starting November 19.
Studio visitors will also have the opportunity to view some custom quilts I've been working on for a commission. Since I don't usually keep any quilts I make, this is a rare occasion to see my work in person – finished, and in progress.
I'll also have fabric, patterns, and acrylic template sets available to purchase – save on shipping if you're local! Included are a few bundles of older collections and miscellaneous items not listed on the website, yardage and bags of batting scraps and other items for quilters and crafters, as well as some random quilt blocks/parts to transform into your own project.
On Saturday, November 12, from 11am - 2pm, my friends from Peace by Peace: The Norwalk Community Quilt Project will be on hand with a quilt on their frame. Anyone is welcome to pull up a chair and learn to stitch with these lovely folks who will share their skill and stories. My friend Lizzy Rockwell, who is the founder (and rock!) behind the group, will have signed copies of her fabulous book, The All-Together Quilt, available to purchase too! Winner of the 2021 Connecticut Book Award, and selected by CT Center for the Book to represent the state at the 2022 Library of Congress Book Festival, this beautifully illustrated book – based on the true story of Peace by Piece, The All-Together Quilt is about friends of all ages who gather at the community center each Friday to make a quilt.
See you then!
