There may be hundreds of "Whig Rose" variations out there, a post-Revolutionary War pattern. Denyse’s interpretation is pared down and stark, after some of her favorite antique versions. Her roses have an animated, almost atomic-cartoon sensibility, softened by yarn dye and print fabric details. It is beautifully hand appliquéd and hand quilted by Amish woman in Minnesota.
